Interesting fact
The 1 Speciedaler coin from Denmark, issued during the reign of King Frederik III (1657-1661), was made of silver with a purity of .875, which is equivalent to 87.5% silver. This high silver content made the coin valuable not only as a medium of exchange but also as a store of value. In fact, the coin was used as a standard unit of account in Denmark until the 19th century, and its value was pegged to the silver content. This highlights the importance of the coin not only in the history of numismatics but also in the economic history of Denmark.
