Date of issue: 03 NOV 1992Yakub Kolas (Konstantin Mikhailovich Mickiewicz, (1882-1956), - a Byelorussian writer , National Poet of Byelorussia (1926), the member (1928) and vice president (1929) of the Byelorussian Academy of Sciences. His collected poetries ("Songs of Captivity" and "Songs of Grief"), poems ("The New Land" and "Simon the Musician"), plays and stories are deeply rooted in national tradition.
