Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1879 Guatemalan 1 Real coin is that it features a unique design that reflects the country's rich cultural heritage. The obverse side of the coin depicts the Guatemalan coat of arms, which includes a quetzal bird, a symbol of freedom and independence, surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves. The reverse side of the coin features a depiction of the volcano Fuego, which is located in the western highlands of Guatemala and is still active today. This design was created by the Guatemalan artist and engraver, José María González, and it has become a distinctive feature of Guatemalan currency.
