Comment

The first of four Edwina Ellis bridge designs, the Forth Railway Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 km) west of Edinburgh city centre. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland (having been voted Scotland's greatest man-made wonder in 2016) and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 2004 coin was issued individually and later as part of the 4-coin set, it was also struck in nickel-brass, silver proof and silver piedfort. Issue Limit: 5,000

The 2008 piece was issued in a 14-piece set to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the £1 coin and was also struck in silver proof with selective gold plating.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the coin is that the Forth Bridge, which is featured on the reverse side of the coin, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a cantilever bridge that spans the Firth of Forth in Scotland, and it was opened in 1890. The bridge is considered an iconic symbol of Scotland and is known for its striking industrial architecture.
