The third of four Timothy Noad floral emblems, the others being the Oak and Rose for England, Leek and Daffodil for Wales and the Thistle and Bluebell for Scotland.

Released as part of the annual silver piedfort sets (487 sales), as well as individually (788 sales) the coin was also struck in nickel-brass, silver proof and gold proof.
