Introduced in 2008 when the small coinage designs were changed from the Emblems of Britain to the Royal Shield of Arms with the £1 coin showing the complete shield.© The Royal Mint, 2008
In 2012 for the Queens Diamond Jubilee the £1 coin was selectively plated with Gold and no other silver proof edition minted.
The 2013 strike was issued in a 3-coin set to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the £1 coin alongside the Royal Arms design by Eric Sewell and the Crowned Royal Shield design by Derek Gorringe. (1,311 sales) It was also issued in the full silver proof set (985 sales).
The 2015 strike was issued to commemorate the change to the Jody Clark 5th portrait in both a dual set (389 sales) and a single 4th portrait set (852 sales) as well as individually (no sales data).
