The 2008 strike was issued to commemorate the change to the new royal shield design in a dual Emblems of Britain & Royal Shield of Arms set (886 sales) as well as individually (860 sales).

The 2013 strike was issued in both the annual gold set (59 sales) and in a 3-coin set (17 sales) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the £1 coin alongside the Royal Arms design by Eric Sewell and the Crowned Royal Shield design by Derek Gorringe.
