The standard weight of these pieces was 48 to the pound or one third ounce avoirdupois (145.8 grains).'H' mintmark struck by Ralph Heaton & Sons, Birmingham (Sp#3955), all other issues are Sp#3954
In 1874, the 2nd portrait was very slightly changed. In KM#755, the D:G: is further away from the Queen's head.
So take care if you have an 1874 in case it is KM#749.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Penny - Victoria (2nd portrait; 2nd type) coin from the United Kingdom is that it was the first coin to feature the iconic image of Queen Victoria with a crown on her head. This design change was made to reflect the Queen's advancing age and her increasing association with the British Empire. The coin's design was created by sculptor and engraver, William Wyon, and it remained in circulation for over 20 years, becoming a symbol of British commerce and trade during that time.
