Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1931-1936 South African 1 Penny coin is that it was the first coin to feature the image of King George V, who was the reigning monarch at the time. This coin was also unique in that it was the first South African coin to be made of bronze, rather than the traditional silver or gold. Additionally, the coin's design was created by the famous South African artist and sculptor, Coert Steynberg.
