Comment
The Dromedaris is one of the three vessels which brought Jan van Riebeeck and his small group of settlers to South Africa from Holland in 1652 in order to establish a refreshment station on behalf of the Dutch East India Company.
The bronze composition changed very slightly halfway through this type:
1937-41 Hern#S97-S101 Copper 0.955, Tin 0.030, Zinc 0.015
1942-47 Hern#S102-S107 Copper 0.950, Tin 0.005, Zinc 0.045
1940 and 1942 coins with and without the star (= diamond) after the date
