Reverse

The old Christian braided ornamentation is alongside the whole edge of the coin, while the old Croatian coat of arms is at the bottom of the coin. A European pine marten running left is in the central part of the coin, while the face value of the coin (1) is placed on top of the European pine marten.

Comment

  • Only 8 coins are known to exist.
  • Type 1 of 1 Kuna trial strike series is a coin without the undulating background with the year of minting (1941) written at the bottom on the obverse.

Interesting fact

The Pattern 1 Kuna coin from the Independent State of Croatia, made of nickel in 1941, features an error in the inscription on the reverse side. Instead of the correct "ZAVOD ZA PROizvodnju NOVCA" (Institute for the Production of Currency), the inscription reads "ZAVOD ZA PROizvodnju NOVCAH" with an additional "H" at the end. This error makes the coin particularly rare and valuable among collectors.
