Comment

Interesting fact

The 1941 1 Franc coin was issued during the German occupation of France during World War II. The coin features the iconic Gallic rooster on one side and the denomination and year on the other. Due to the war, the metal composition of the coin was changed to aluminum-magnesium, which was a more readily available and cheaper alternative to the traditional bronze or silver used in previous years. This change in metal composition made the coin lighter and easier to produce, but it also made it more prone to wear and tear. Despite these changes, the coin remained in circulation until the end of the war and is now a sought-after collector's item.
