Minted to celebrate the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots and Francis, Dauphin of France.Dated 1558, but not minted until 1559.
There are only five known remaining specimens of this coin. Two are in private collections and three are in public museums. The publicly held examples are in the National Museum of Scotland, the British Museum and the Cabinet des Médailles.
