HM The Queen visited New Zealand between 12-20 October 1981, following a Commonwealth Heads of Government conference in Melbourne, Australia. The reverse design symbolises the close relationship between New Zealand and the United Kingdom. It features the leaf and acorns of the English Oak, and the leaves and seed cone of the New Zealand Kauri.This Sterling Silver Proof coin was issued individually in a capsule in a plush case. It was also included in the Annual Proof Year Set with six other standard proof coins.
