Known as a "Philipsdaalder (Dutch) or Ecu Philippe (French).

With Philip's conquest of Portugal in 1581, a small shield of Portugal was added to his arms (just above center), differentiating this issue from previous ones.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique combination of shields on its reverse side. The shields represent the unification of the Spanish and Portuguese crowns under Philip II, with the Portugal shield appearing on the left and the Spain shield on the right. This design was only used during Philip II's reign and makes the coin a distinctive and valuable collector's item for numismatists interested in the history of the Spanish Netherlands.
