Due to inflation, the value of copper in 1 Centavo coins was more than face value. The size of these coins was reduced to the old 1/2 Centavo coins.
Interesting fact
The 1910-1911 Honduran 1 Centavo coin is a rare and unique coin, known as a "mule" coin. This is because it was minted with a combination of dies from different years, resulting in a coin that has a mismatched obverse (front) and reverse (back) design. Specifically, the obverse die was from 1910, while the reverse die was from 1911. This error was likely caused by a mistake at the mint, and it makes the coin particularly valuable to collectors. In fact, some examples of this coin have sold for thousands of dollars at auction.
