Interesting fact

The 1 Centavo coin featuring the portrait of Pedro Álvares Cabral, the Portuguese explorer who led the discovery of Brazil in 1500, was the first coin in the world to be produced with a bi-metallic design, with a copper-plated steel center and a stainless steel ring. This unique design was introduced in 1998 and was used until 2004, when the coin was discontinued.
