During WWII these coins were struck in Philadelphia, USA. The same coins were struck for the mainland of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The coins for Suriname (and Curacoa) and the Netherlands have a different mark though. The marks are an acorn (mainland of the Netherlands) and a palm tree (overseas territories of the Kingdom).A 1942 variety also exists, which can be found in the Curaçao index. These coins were emitted in Curaçao as well as Suriname.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1943 Suriname 1 Cent coin is that it was minted during World War II, when Suriname was still a colony of the Netherlands. The coin's brass composition was likely chosen due to the wartime need for copper, which was a valuable resource for the war effort. This coin is a unique piece of history that reflects the economic and political circumstances of the time.
