Comment

Hartill says Sima Guang designed some coins of Zhezong, but does not specify which era he designed coins for. Because Sima Guang died in 1086, he could of only designed coins for the Yuanyou era.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique combination of calligraphic styles. The inscription on the coin is written in a style known as "running script" (跑書, p. tóngshū), which is characterized by its flowing, connected strokes. This style was popular during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 CE) and was often used for informal writing, such as letters and notes. The use of running script on this coin adds to its historical and cultural significance, as it reflects the artistic and literary tastes of the time period in which it was minted.
