The first commemorative Sovereign, which was produced to commemorate 500 years since the first sovereign strike, it was the first time that the word Sovereign has featured on a sovereign.

This half sovereign was issued as part of a 4-coin Sovereign Proof set (5,000 sales, issue limit 5,000), a 3-coin Sovereign Proof set (7,936 sales, issue limit 10,000) and as individual pieces with (8,888 sales, issue limit 10,000).
