Interesting fact
The coin features a portrait of King Louis XV on one side and the French coat of arms on the other. The portrait was designed by the French engraver, Nicolas-Pierre Briot, and it's notable for being one of the first coins to feature a realistic portrait of a monarch, rather than a idealized or symbolic representation. This coin was also minted during a time of great change in France, as Louis XV was only 19 years old when he ascended to the throne and was still establishing his rule.
