Comment
Hejaz is a province of Saudi Arabia and formerly part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1916, Hussein bin Ali, Emir of Mecca, led the Great Arab Revolt against the Turks, forming the Kingdom of Hejaz. The kingdom, however, was short-lived as it was conquered by Abd Al-Aziz bin Saud in 1925, combining it with Nejd and eventually forming Saudi Arabia.Interesting fact
The ¼ Qirsh coin from the Kingdom of Hejaz (now Saudi Arabia) is interesting because it was issued during the reign of King Husayn bin Ali, who played a significant role in the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The coin's design features an image of the king on one side and an Arabic inscription on the other, which adds to its historical and cultural significance.
