Interesting fact

The 1949 George VI ½ Piastre coin from Cyprus was the first coin to feature the image of King George VI, who had recently ascended to the throne after his brother's abdication. This coin was also the first to bear the inscription "King of Cyprus" in Greek, reflecting Cyprus's new status as a kingdom within the British Commonwealth.
