Comment
Dalton & Hamer Middlesex Political & Social Series. This was designed to make a satirical comment against the French, whose revolution had just overthrown the monarchy. The DH#1016 version has the same reverse but with larger letters which on the second line the first and last letters touch the edge.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Token ½ Penny (Middlesex - Map of France) 1794 from United Kingdom is that it was issued during a time of economic crisis and currency shortages in the late 18th century. The coin was minted by a private company, the Middlesex Company, and was intended to serve as a substitute for the official copper coins of the time, which were in short supply. The coin's design features a map of France on one side and the denomination on the other, and it was made of copper, a relatively inexpensive metal at the time. Despite its origins as a token coin, the Token ½ Penny (Middlesex - Map of France) 1794 has become a sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
