Dalton & Hamer Middlesex Political & Social Series. This was designed to make a satirical comment against the French, whose revolution had just overthrown the monarchy. The DH#1017 version has the same reverse but with smaller letters which do not reach the edge.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Token ½ Penny (Middlesex - Map of France) 1794 from United Kingdom is that it was issued during a time of currency shortages and economic instability in the late 18th century. The coin was minted by a private company, the Middlesex Company, and was intended to serve as a substitute for the official British penny, which was in short supply at the time. The coin's design features a map of France on one side and the value "1/2 Penny" on the other, and it was made of copper, a relatively inexpensive metal. Despite its humble origins, the Token ½ Penny has become a sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
