The Dromedaris is one of the three ships which brought Jan van Riebeeck and his small group of settlers to South Africa from Holland in 1652 in order to establish a refreshment station on behalf of the Dutch East India Company.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1951-1952 South African ½ Penny coin is that it was the first coin to feature the image of King George VI, who had recently succeeded his brother Edward VIII as the monarch of the United Kingdom. This coin was also unique in that it was the only coin of its denomination to be minted during George VI's reign, making it a rare and valuable collector's item.
