Interesting fact
The ½ Cent coin from South Africa, which was in circulation from 1970 to 1983, was the smallest denomination coin in the country's currency at the time. It was also the first coin to feature the image of a Springbok, which is a type of antelope found in South Africa, on its reverse side. The Springbok has since become a symbol of South Africa and is featured on many of the country's coins and currency.
