Iger V.02.3Interesting fact
The Sigismund III Vasa (Wilno) 1602 coin was minted during the reign of King Sigismund III Vasa, who was the first king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to issue coins with his own image. This coin features the king's portrait on one side and the Polish eagle on the other, and it was minted in Wilno (now Vilnius, Lithuania) in 1602. The use of silver in the coin's minting was a significant departure from the previous coins of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which were made of copper or billon (a copper-silver alloy). The introduction of silver coins helped to stabilize the currency and increase its value, and it marked a turning point in the development of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's monetary system.
