Comment

From the 7th to the 10th century, Quentovic was the main trading port of the Frankish kingdom with England. It was also the main mint in the region, whose activity has been attested since the end of the 7th century. Its prosperity declined following the Viking raids which plundered the city on several occasions, but also because of the silting up of the Canche. This unpublished tremissis imitates the issues of Anglus I, whose activity J. Lafaurie places around 625-635.
