Interesting fact
The Tetradrachm - Smordos coin features a unique combination of symbols and imagery, including a portrait of the Greek goddess Athena on one side and a depiction of a griffin on the other. The griffin was a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, and it was believed to be a symbol of protection and strength. The use of this imagery on the coin may have been intended to convey the idea that the city of Abdera, where the coin was minted, was a place of safety and security.
