Interesting fact
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Lysimachos, the King of Thrace, wearing a lion's skin headdress, which was a symbol of his power and authority. The reverse of the coin depicts a standing Apollo, the god of the sun, music, poetry, and prophecy, holding a lyre and a branch. This design was a nod to the city of Magnesia's cultural and religious ties to ancient Greece.
