Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Tetradrachm - Demetrius Poliorcetes (Salamis) coin is that it features the image of a mythical creature called a gorgoneion on the obverse side. The gorgoneion is a depiction of the head of Medusa, a creature from Greek mythology, with snakes for hair and a fierce expression. This image was used to symbolize the power and authority of the king, Demetrius Poliorcetes, who ruled Macedonia during the time the coin was minted.
