Lettering: ΙΕΡΑΣΑΣΥΛΟΥ ΑΣΚΑΛΩΝΙΤΩΝ LΝΕ

Translation: Sacred and Inviolate of (the people of) Ascalon Year 55

Comment

David Sear in his Greek Coins and their Values book lists this under Askalon, Philistine Cities
The date code is thought to be "year 55" beginning with the liberation of Askalon from the Seleucid empire in 104BC which leaves 50BC.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of Cleopatra VII, one of the few female pharaohs of ancient Egypt, on one side, and an image of a lion on the other, which was a symbol of power and strength in ancient Egyptian culture.
