Interesting fact

The obverse (front) side of the coin features a portrait of the Greek goddess Athena, while the reverse (back) side features a depiction of a lion, which was a symbol of the city of Kos. This combination of Athena and the lion reflects the cultural and political ties between the city of Kos and the wider Greek world during the 4th century BC.
