Interesting fact
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Arkesilas, the ruler of Knidos, wearing a lion's skin headdress, which was a symbol of his power and connection to the god Dionysus. The reverse of the coin depicts a nude Apollo holding a lyre, indicating the city's strong cultural and artistic ties to Greece. The coin's design reflects the blending of Greek and Persian influences in the region, which was a unique feature of the ancient city of Knidos.
