Interesting fact
The Tetrachalkon coin was used as a means of payment for mercenaries and soldiers during the Peloponnesian War. It was also used as a medium of exchange for goods and services, and its value was equivalent to four chalkoi, which is where it got its name "Tetrachalkon" (four chalkoi).
