Comment

Note: There are two types of this coin, one with a bigger, the other with a smaller crown. The estimated modern population is somewhere between 601 and 3000 pieces for each type. This is the only coin minted by the city of Gdańsk during the reign of Wiśniowiecki that was not made out of gold.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Szeląg gdański - Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki (Gdańsk) 1670 coin is that it features a unique design on its reverse side. Instead of the usual coat of arms or other symbol of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, this coin features a depiction of the city of Gdańsk, with its buildings and walls surrounded by water. This design was meant to symbolize the importance of Gdańsk as a major port city and commercial center in the region.
