Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Szeląg gdański coin is that it was minted during a time of great turmoil in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The coin was minted in 1657-1658, during the reign of King Jan II Kazimierz Waza, who was forced to flee the country due to the Swedish invasion in 1655. Despite this, the coin still bears the king's name and title, indicating the continued legitimacy of the Polish-Lithuanian state despite the ongoing conflict.
