Comment
Note: Despite being minted during the interregnum, meaning that there was no king, it depicts the name ‘SIGIS’ in its legend. It still remains uncertain whether this is the name of Zygmunt Stary or Zygmunt II August. While the second king always added ‘AVG’ to the legend, he was the king that died right before this period. Most experts say that this was actually the name Zygmunt Stary, but he died almost 30 years before.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Szeląg gdański - Interregnum (Gdańsk) 1573 coin is that it was minted during a time of political turmoil in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The coin was issued during the Interregnum, a period of political instability that lasted from 1572 to 1573, when the Commonwealth was ruled by a series of temporary administrators rather than a single monarch. Despite this turmoil, the coin still features the standard design of a Szeląg gdański, with the Polish eagle on one side and the Lithuanian coat of arms on the other. This coin is a unique piece of history that highlights the resilience and continuity of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during a time of political upheaval.
