Interesting fact
The Herakleitos Stater from Abdera (Thrace) is considered one of the earliest coins to feature a portrait of a historical figure. The obverse side of the coin features a bearded portrait of Herakleitos, a famous Greek philosopher and polymath, who was born in Abdera around 524 BC. This coin was minted during his lifetime, making it a unique and rare artifact from ancient Greece.
