Interesting fact
The obverse (front) side of the coin features a stylized head of the Greek goddess Hera, while the reverse (back) side features a representation of a lion, which was a symbol of the city of Chios. The lion is depicted standing on its hind legs and facing left, with its front paws raised as if ready to pounce. This design was a common motif on ancient Greek coins and was meant to symbolize the city's strength and power.
