Interesting fact
The Aegina Stater is considered one of the earliest coins in the ancient Greek world, and it's believed to have been issued by the city-state of Aegina in the 6th century BC. The coin features an image of a sea turtle on one side and an inscription on the other, which reads "ΑΙΓΙΝΑ" (Aegina) in ancient Greek. The use of a sea turtle as a symbol on the coin may have been chosen because Aegina was an island nation that relied heavily on sea trade and commerce.
