Interesting fact
The Corinthian Stater was one of the first coins to feature a depiction of a human being. The obverse side of the coin features a portrait of a bearded man, believed to be a representation of the Greek god Poseidon, who was revered as the protector of the city of Corinth. This early use of a human image on a coin was a significant departure from the earlier coins that featured only abstract designs or animal motifs.
