Interesting fact
The Golgoi Stater is considered one of the earliest coins to feature an image of a human face. The obverse side of the coin depicts a bearded man, believed to be the ancient Cypriot king, wearing a crown and earring. This representation of a human figure on a coin was a significant innovation in ancient coinage and paved the way for the use of portraits on coins in later centuries.
