Interesting fact
The Holmoi Stater from Cilicia, which , is considered one of the earliest coins to feature an image of a ruler or king. The obverse side of the coin features a bearded king wearing a royal diadem, while the reverse side shows a lion and an eagle fighting over a stag. This imagery was likely meant to symbolize the power and authority of the ruler. The use of a ruler's image on coins became a common practice in later centuries and is still used on many coins today.
