Interesting fact
The obverse (front) side of the Thespian Stater features a striking image of a mythical creature called the "Chimera," which has the body of a lion, the head of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. This symbol was likely chosen to represent the city of Thespiai and its connection to Greek mythology.
