Interesting fact
The Ambracia Stater was minted during the reign of King Pyrrhus III, who ruled Ambracia from 360 BC to 338 BC. Pyrrhus was known for his military campaigns against the Roman Republic, and the coinage of Ambracia during his reign reflects the influence of both Greek and Roman cultures. The obverse of the coin features the head of the Greek goddess Athena, while the reverse depicts a horse and rider, which was a common motif in ancient Greek coinage. The fact that the coin was made of silver also speaks to the wealth and prosperity of Ambracia during this time period.
