Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features the first known depiction of a hoplite (a heavily armored Greek foot soldier) on a Greek coin. The hoplite is shown on the obverse (front) side of the coin, wearing a helmet, armor, and carrying a shield and spear. This coin was minted during a time of great military and political change in ancient Greece, and the image of the hoplite may have been meant to symbolize the power and strength of the city-state of Argos.
