Interesting fact
The obverse (front) side of the Mytilene Stater features a portrait of the Greek goddess Demeter, who was revered as the patron deity of agriculture and fertility. The coin's design was likely meant to symbolize the rich agricultural resources of the island of Lesbos, where the coin was minted.
