Interesting fact

The Stater coin from Tarentum (Calabria) was minted during the reign of King Alexander I, who ruled the city-state from 333 BC to 330 BC. The coin features an image of the mythical creature, the Taras, on one side, and the profile of the king on the other. The Taras was a symbol of the city and was believed to have been founded by the Greek hero Taras, who was said to have been born from the sea. The coin's design was meant to represent the city's connection to the sea and its rich maritime history.
